World Peace And Security
The United Nations Security Council has been too slow to respond to world threats in the war on terror. In fact, they are often blamed for creating barriers and red tape that prevent us from being able to move forward in our own defense. If the United States of America and her allies are to rid the planet of international terrorism then they will need a stronger and more dedicated United Nations Security Council.
It is unfortunate that the United Nations Security Council is weak on this issue. International terrorist organizations and the nation states that sponsor them must be stopped from taking innocent lives. Such acts are done to strike fear into the people of a given area. The stand though is that we don’t respond to violence by engaging in more violence. Where does that line get drawn though when it comes to world peace and our own security? This is a heated debate with many answers to it that don’t coincide with those of others.
As a result of this people are often quick to judge the United Nations. They assume that they aren’t willing to apply sanctions or even use force against nation states that sponsor international terrorist groups. Apparently, some of the nations that make up the United Nations Security Council wish to continue to do business with the nation states that sponsor international terrorism and sell those weapons and arms. The issue though is far more complicated that that. All most of us see are the tip of the iceberg situations that are involved here.
Most do agree though that the United Nations does have the power to do more than they are when it comes to security. Many citizens become enraged though as they feel the efforts in place often hinder their freedom rather than ensuring the overall safety of everyone. You can be sure though that such decisions aren’t made hastily. They are the result of careful consulting that strives to be sure the topics of world peace and security are upheld in them.
Before world peace can be achieved though such random acts of violence must be eliminated. Stopping them and preventing them from occurring isn’t always easy. What we often don’t realize is that for every act that does occur, hundreds more were stopped and we never knew about them. That is definitely something to think about the next time you want to criticize the United Nations.
